Advantages Of Using The ProTaper Gold

Dental Specialties Tulsa Dental Specialties announced today the introduction of the next generation of the ProTaper(r) predecessor line – ProTaper Gold.(tm) These have the same effective, variable tapered designs and predictable performance that dental professionals have come to expect and trusted since ProTaper Universal,(r) but with greater flexibility.

ProTaper Gold’s patented advanced metallurgy produces a distinct difference that the clinician can feel and feel. It’s since ProTaper Gold rotary files feature the same geometrical features like ProTaper Universal, but offer the flexibility of ProTaper Gold. This is particularly important for the files for finishing that must negotiate the difficult curves within the apical area in the canal. They also have smaller handles of 11 millimeters for better access to the teeth.

Along with its adaptability, ProTaper Gold provides more than double the resistance to fatigue from cyclics over ProTaper Universal. This is a major benefit for clinicians since this is the primary reason for separation of files.

ProTaper Gold’s longevity is due to the patented, continuously tapered design that helps to dramatically improve cutting efficiency and ensure safety. Action while reducing tension between blade and the dentin. The design of each instrument allows it to follow the secure section of the canal. the small, flat area at the tip increases the ability of the instrument to find its route through the soft tissue and other debris.

ProTaper Gold offers the same reliable, variable tapered designs like ProTaper Universal, and offers substantial new benefits. Clinicians have greater ability to move around and resist fatigue due to cyclic while still having the security of an entire file system that they trust and know. ProTaper Gold utilizes the same rotary motion and uses identical motors that are used in ProTaper Universal.

This ProTaper Gold technique includes a sequence of shaping and finishing files that are designed to be used by a single patient. For more information about ProTaper Gold and the features it offers go to this page on the Qedendo website.

ProTaper Gold Tackles for Narrow Canals

Case Summary

After identifying tooth #19 as having an abscess in the apical region that was necrotic and persistent I suggested RCT to an elderly woman aged 66. The challenges in this case are the need to find a smooth route to the working length, canals that are calcified and a curvature that was a bit tricky. The versatility offered by ProTaper Gold files proved useful. Following the incident I reflect on the importance of creating the glide route.
Diagnosis

This case involves a 66 year old female with a lengthy medical background. The patient has a history of High Blood Pressure, High Cholesterol anxiety, and the recently discovered Melanoma as well as Breast Cancer. She has had a background of radiation and chemotherapy treatment. She is currently taking Anastrozole, Zocor, Lexapro and HCTZ. She has also had blood transfusions, and has an allergy to levoquin.

Her main complaint was that her “dentist observed something on the xray but I didn’t experience any actual pain.” When she had completed the majority of her treatment for cancer she was able to treat the oral infection.

The radiograph shows the tooth #19 that has been restored using an amalgam filling. Its PDL is thickened, and the lamina dura appears diffuse. There is a substantial periapical radiolucency that is associated the tooth number 19. The radiograph also shows apical calcium.

Clinically, the tooth is sinus drainage. The tooth showed normal probing depths and no pain from percussion or reaction to cold.

Dental tooth diagnosed as having Necrotic Abcess and Pulp. It was also diagnosed as Chronic.
Access and Shaping

The entry was fairly simple There was however a pulp stone within the chamber.

The canals measured 22mm in length and finding my glide path from working length was perhaps the most difficult problem in this instance. The first step was to use C file and EDTA to attain the patency. I utilized my handpiece from the endo together to the C files to become more efficient in the procedure.

The other issue was the curvature of MB root. The combination of curvature and calibration can result in an unorganized file, which is why I prefer to give this portion of the process more time.

After the glide path was established, I was sure I had my motor good to go. My preferred choice is ProTaper Gold, especially in cases with curvature that is similar to this one.I have confidence that it will be able to go through the bend easily. I find that this kind of metal has greater flexibility and performs better in my hands because I don’t experience as many resistance. Through the process I applied a constant stream of sodium hypochlorite 6. If I encountered any calcification, I changed to 17 percent EDTA to ease the way through any obstruction. After my instrumentation was completed I did the final flush using 5cc of 17 percent EDTA along with 5cc sodium hypochlorite.

My master apical record was an 25/.04 in the mesial canals as well as a 30/.04 on the canals that were distal. There were four canals altogether.

I utilize a hybrid approach of S1, F2, and then I switch to ProFile 25/.04 and 30/.04.
Obturation and irrigation

In this particular instance I did not turn on my irrigants as I do not find them effective in situations that I have narrow canals. However, I prefer to use a 30 gauge ProRinse needle for my irrigation, so that I get the maximum needle penetration to ensure more efficient irrigation.

I removed the tooth using hot vertical condensation. Then I sealed the tooth with ThermaSeal’s the Ribbon Plus Sealer.

Restoration

The flowable material was positioned over each orifice for an orifice blocker as well as a cavit and sponge were put in. The patient was sent again to the GP for the final reconstruction.

Things to Remember:

In this kind of situation the main takeaway is to determine your glide path to ensure you’re safe using your rotary file. Don’t trust your rotary file to perform miracles. Instead be aware of how you can take care of it just as any other item. There is no way to guarantee that a rotary file will work however, if you spend the time to provide your rotary precisely what it requires it will make your life much simpler and will keep your treatment secure.
