Importance of keeping up to date with blogs and news

With constantly changing marketing trends, Google’s fluid algorithms, and the changes in the way people seek information, you may be wondering whether people are still searching for blogs?

The answer, naturally the answer is yes!

According to a recent survey conducted by HubSpot 60 percent of internet users read blogs. What’s the reason? What exactly are they seeking to accomplish through studying these books? Based on the study there are three primary reasonsthat we’ll be discussing in this article. However, we’d like move it up a notch and provide you with a couple additional things we’ve learned from listening to our readers and web site users.

Five Reasons Why People Read Blogs

They want to learn something Neue

In the DIY world the most common thing people on the internet are looking for is advice on how to accomplish something. Perhaps they’d like to put in cabinets for their kitchen, or perhaps they’d like to know how to improve the marketing of their business (that’s most likely why that you’re reading this!). People are looking for information that will help them learn more about something.

Blog posts from gistfocus that aid users through a process, such as instructional videos, data or simply provide a new idea is the kind of posts which receive a significant amount of search engine traffic.

The articles don’t need to be a manual with steps-by-step directions, neither. They can be merely detailed information about some topic, thus giving readers information they didn’t already be aware of. People are hungry for knowledge.

They want to be entertained

Everyone is looking for entertainment. This is the reason we have televisions, video games systems and computers for a lot of people (when they’re not at work or in school). Reading is an excellent sources of enjoyment. Particularly when the subject is fun or interesting.

In actuality, in times of boredom, it’s possible to be searching for a specific area. You may be reading about it, becoming interested in a different topic that is a subtopic of the blog and then researching more information about thattopic, until you’re so far from the topic you started with, you’re not even able to remember the way you came to this point. “Going down an endless rabbit hole” is what my friend Valerie describes it (and she frequently does it! ).

They are interested in researching their Industry

Consider the reason you’re here. Perhaps you’re a business owner seeking marketing advice. Perhaps you’re a fellow marketer. Or maybe you’re Valerie looking for the reason I’m talking about you on this blog. If you’re among the two mentioned above you could be doing studies in your field. In this case, you’re in marketing. It is a constant change in trends that we must keep up to date within our field, and we certainly have to!

However, it’s not limited to marketing. If a person who reads this blog owns a painting business it is possible that they will be reading blogs on how painting works, the latest developments using different types of paint, and other bits of information to aid them in running their business.

People are curious

Many blogs are not that are trying to promote something. Actually, blogs of companies that sell products typically have a great mixture of non-business-related topics too (if they’re doing things right!)

A lot of people use the internet and read blogs to satisfy their interest. People are fascinated by the insider’s view of someone else’s life. The blog reading experience is similar to taking a peek into the personal journal of someone else. It’s true that it’s strange. But isn’t that the exact motive behind watching movies or tv shows? We want to feel as if we’re seeing another person’s world, whether it’s authentic or not.

People want to connect and Feel part of something

Personal connections is sometimes lost when you’re not having a drink with friends or over the phone. Engaging with blogs, reading them, engaging with them, leaving a comment and expressing your opinion these are all actions that build a personal connection.

It’s not just intimate, but people would like to feel they’re not the only ones. It is possible that they’ve initially looked to find someone else suffering from the same problem as they’re experiencing. Finding someone experiencing similar issues creates the feeling of a personal connection as well as a feeling of belonging.

While these are only five of the reasons why people use blog posts, they have many other reasons. It’s a trend that won’t be going away anytime in the near future. Have you taken a moment to consider the reason you’re reading them?
